Kaufbeuren – Art and Culture in the Allgäu
Kaufbeuren is rich with charm, sights and cultural attractions. Every summer, Kaufbeuren celebrates the \"Tänzelfest\", in which more than 1,600 children in historical costumes re-enact the history of the town.
In the winding streets of the Old Town, history abounds at every turn. Of particular note are the well-preserved town walls (ca. 1200) with their two towers. The \"Fünfknopfturm\" is the emblem of Kaufbeuren. The Old Town invites visitors to browse around the shops or relax at one of the street cafés or restaurants.
The Crescentia Memorial Museum, the Puppet Theatre Museum and the \"kunsthaus kaufbeuren\" offer a wealth of interesting information. Fashion jewellery can be viewed at the Gablonz Industries\' interactive exhibition and the Isergebirgs-Museum and can also be purchased direct from the manufacturer. Famous people born in Kaufbeuren include St. Crescentia, Ludwig Ganghofer, Sophie von La Roche and Hans Magnus Enzensberger.
