After severe damage in the war, it was laid out again in 1948 in a form that was a compromise between the 17th-century design and the tree garden created 100 years ago.
Several years ago, this garden on the northern side of the Munich Residence was redesigned according the original plans drawn up by Carl Effner senior in 1853, with the flower beds typical of this period.
