The medieval age gives the city its particular face. Today the two yards thick, ancient city wall appears romantic, but in the 14th century it guaranteed the safety of the public houses, the churches and the former monastery, which today is the castle of the city. Beyond the city lines, there reach out the foothills of the Alps. The hiking and biking network makes arboreous hills and grassland, lakes and ponds, rivers and moors accessible. The centre of the german ski association gives fellows of nordic walking and cross-country skiing the opportunity to practice speed, endurance and strength.
